Gabe, Thank you.
I went to the page and did the link specific to KK first and then the main page, starting with [1]. Now,I found these two things: 1. In alsamixer, everything was green and at least as high as seven, except for the column labeled simply IEC958. I horizontal arrowed to it and tried to increase it with a vertical arrow, but was unable to do so. 2.One of the first things I checked after it stopped working was the bios, and sure enough, whatever had knocked out the sound had changed the on board sound device from "disabled" to "auto". I changed it back to "disable",but still no sound. Here is the relevant copy/paste from lsmod | grep snd: attachment: PciMultimedia.txt... w...@wbee-desktop:~$ lsmod | grep snd snd_ca0106 33984 3 snd_ac97_codec 101504 1 snd_ca0106 ac97_bus 1532 1 snd_ac97_codec snd-ca0106 is my soundcard;does the "3" mean it is being recognized three times? Is the redundancy a problem? I did not go to the blacklist yet, wanting to check first. What,if anything, should I blacklist? -- Audio Stopped Working...... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
