Quick parafrace of what i was able to understand: Installed 9.10 on a Acer one using a USB-key, Ubuntu was given a 30GB partision after the windows partition. When shurting down it seams that the kernel crashes and the power LED stays on. There is also random issues with starting the system. Got some heat issues probably related to a BIOS update, this caused windows xp and ubuntu to shut down randomly, now i dosen't even get to the grub menu. Tried installing netbook remix but the system keeps shutting down. Sugest bying and testing acer aspire one.
