A major part of this bug was solved by disabling the viafb framebuffer driver - this was done by blacklisting viafb in /etc/modprobe.d /blacklist-framebuffer.conf (thanks to a suggestion by Ian Clark for bug #538893 regarding another system with a UniChrome display) - on the next update, the initrd was rebuilt.
The good news is that the split-screen problem ceased. The bad news is that I can't still switch into consoles with ctl-alt-F1 through F6 - but instead of getting blank, black, screen, the resulting screen is multicolored. The patterns vary each time I try to switch into a console. This occurred before, as reported above in comments 31, 44, 46, 64, 66, and 82. -- [K8M800] Screen origin shifted to center, screen wraps, ttyN screens don't work, on Averatec 3280 running Lucid with openchrome driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
