Thank you for your answer, I will fill a bug in Gnome bug tracker, and
give the links here. If you don't mind, and as i don't know exactly
which software is concerned, I will first put some more feedback here:
----- First experiment ---
- Open an image (located either on Desktop or in another folder) with EOG. Then
open it again with any editing software (F-spot, gthumb, Gimp..), modify it,
save the changes. The image in EOG is not updated.
--> I am not sure it is a bug, it may be the way EOG behaves, so ok to put it
in "wishlist" (low priority).
----- Second experiment ---
- Open an image (located either on Desktop or in another folder) with EOG. Then
modify it with the "Edit image" button located inside EOG. Modify it, save the
changes. The image in EOG is not updated.
--> Here the user is clearly expecting the EOG image to be updated, as he does
not know/care that EOG is using an external editing app. It is affecting
Ubuntu's ergonomy, so I really think it should be changed ("wishlist" with high
priority ? Ubuntu's bug ?).
----- Third experiment ---
- Copy an image on your Desktop (this step is important)
- Open it with EOG. Then modify it with the "Edit image" button located inside
EOG. Modify it, save the changes. The on the Desktop is not updated (the
thumbnail disappears as if was being updated, but then returns the same as
before).
- Close the EOG window (without closing the Fspot window), then save again the
modification in Fspot. This time the thumbnail on the Desktop is updated.
--> Here it is clearly a bug. It looks that EOG prevents the thumbnail to be
updated.
