Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: eclipse
It is almost comical after the nightmare of an upgrade that it whinges
about eclipse.
The upgrade from jaunty to karmic using the official process got stuck
on the configuration of console-setup. The machine was dead as a door
nail. No ssh, network nothing. No option but to power off.
Then after going through heaps of manual apt and deb commands, then
later having to boot from the alternate CD to get a shell after things
were that broken it couldn't boot. But, of course, I had updated the
other machines to karmic and could no longer burn CDs....
Then after several restarts of dist-upgrade from that shell all of the
packages were installed. But grub didn't find the UUID of the root
partition. From the Busy Box shell I saw that the symlink wasn't there
in /dev/disk/by-uuid. So after a couple of boots I changed it to the
device(/dev/sda1) and got up.
I logged in and there was a message about eclipse. I wonder how longer
it will take to iron the kinks out of this system.
