I also have this problem, but for me even partitioned usb drive can not automount. I've tried several usb drives and have no luck. Manually mounting with udisks works fine. However when I report through ubuntu- bug it identifies gvfs as the package affected. Also I only had this problem since gvfs updated several days ago. I'm using Lucid Lynx.
