Some more notes: I compiled both kernel 2.6.34-rc2 and 2.6.32.10 with make oldconfig based on the linux-image-2.6.32-16, but that didn't help. It freezes about half the time when booting.
OpenSuse 11.3 M4 (kernel-2.6.33) on the other hand boots without problems.
