The current splash should not have these problems. I have taken a 24bit png file exported from inkscape, opened it in gimp and semi-flattened the transparency to the bg color defined for the splash/wallpaper.
So, there should be no more black pixels around the edges or funky aliasing problems. However, there might still be slight artistical problems with the shadow/line around the splash.
