Thanks for the bug report, the relevant error is the following:
Apr 4 19:13:15 ubuntu-desktop mysqld: 100404 19:13:15 [Note] Plugin
'FEDERATED' is disabled.
Apr 4 19:13:15 ubuntu-desktop mysqld: /usr/sbin/mysqld: Table 'mysql.plugin'
doesn't exist
Apr 4 19:13:15 ubuntu-desktop mysqld: 100404 19:13:15 [ERROR] Can't open the
mysql.plugin table. Please run mysql_upgrade to create it.
If you run mysql_upgrade then the problem should be fixed.
