I can't comment too much on using the 8800 or VPNs, since I don't use
either of them. Getting the OS to "just work" is a long process, and I
can assure you that installing windows from scratch on the computer
wouldn't exactly be a cakewalk either.
The process of getting this card installed correctly seems to be better
discussed in bug 91556, so I'm marking this one a duplicate of that one.
