** Description changed: After logging into GNOME session, the system crashes when user generates some activity - even the simplest one like opening a text file with gvim. I expected to conduct my work, but instead, the system crashed in an unusually hard way. - The system crashes so hard, that even numlock doesn't blink (the keyboard doesn't work) and when the on/off button is pushed (which is the only way out), the system shuts down, even though normally, when I push this button, the system restarts itself. - Another weird thing is that the screen sometimes disbands itself (?some graphics-related issue..?), last time the screen only went blank. And the (cpu) fan starts to work harder (is making more noise). + The system crashes so hard, that even numlock doesn't blink (the keyboard doesn't work) and when the on/off button is pushed (which is the only way out), the system shuts down, even though normally, when I push this button, the system restarts itself. + Another weird thing is that the screen sometimes disbands itself (?some graphics-related issue..?), last time the screen only went blank. Extra info: When the user doesn't do anything after logging in, the system doesn't crash/freeze, at least during the first five minutes. - release: Lucid (development branch), upgraded 24.10.2010 + release: Lucid beta, on 5.4.2010 system: Asus F5RL graphics: Ati radeon X1100, using open source ati driver
