I did have created a separate ALC268.conf file in modprobe.d directory to avoid
corrupting the alsa-base.conf.
For now, every model declared is considered as a comment to stay on a base
configuration. At each new alsa-driver release I can check easily if I can
record with anyone of this model by simply uncomment one line.

Do I understand well that you suggest I should simply delete this file
and reboot ? or do you mean anything else ?

here is what is inside my file

#ALC268
#options snd-hda-intel model=acer position_fix=0
#options snd-hda-intel model=auto position_fix=0
#options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire position_fix=0
#options snd-hda-intel model=3stack position_fix=0
#options snd-hda-intel model=acer-dmic position_fix=0
#options snd-hda-intel model=dell position_fix=0
