I run Kubuntu 9.10, and now have the same symptom, but with Blender 2.49b. Blender worked fine a month or so, but now when I start it, xorg starts sucking CPU. The mouse-pointer can move on one screen (my left), but clicking or dragging does not work. When moving it to the right screen the cursor-sprite freezes just before entering, but the 'position' of the cursor seem to move into the right screen. Keyboard is completely cut off. Can't even switch to console screens. The only way is to regain control (save hard-reset) is to ssh into it, and kill xorg.
Around the time of failure I was trying to learn GUI programming. I started with QT which failed miserably since not even the simplest example would compile. So I installed GTK+ which I got working. But then again, it may be an entirely different cause. My amateur guess is: * Something was installed that broke something else. * It may have something to do with OpenGL. -- [Karmic] Xorg eats 100% CPU in certain situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478584 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
