can you attach the output of the following commands, please?
1) update-alternatives --display gl_conf
2) ldconfig -p | grep GL
3) ls -l /etc/alternatives/nvidia_modconf

also, can you see if this command (followed by a reboot) solves the problem, 
please?
sudo update-initramfs -u

Running the script from Nvidia's website is not supported and can break your 
system. No wonder the nvidia package can't be installed cleanly any more.
