Public bug reported:

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04
System Up to date as of 15:00 7/4/10 GMT.

After creating a launcher in the main menu, to 'Matlab', the initial splash
screen pops up but the application does not open. If I click on the file itself
or its symbolic link, it starts up fine. If I run the file through the command
line it also starts up fine.
Things I have done:
- Checked the path name to the command.
- Under 'Command' in the launcher creator, I have put both the path to the
original file and the symbolic link. The locations of these respectively are in
the home directory and the /usr/bin/ directories.
- Changing it to 'Application in Terminal' works.

My conclusion initially would of been that this application only runs in
the terminal, but if that were to be the case, I would've thought not
even the splash screen would appear - thus I think this is a bug.

Thankyou (I apologize if this is a false lead)
Charlie
