I looked around and found https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/550350 "pulseaudio -k && pulseaudio" fixes the problem for me.
Michalxo (#550350 bug reporter) claims the problem has been fixed in livecd from 29.03.2010.
