I'd personally say there should be an automatic 'tagging' system for
obsolescent pacakages. Apparently, no one is using this on debian/ubuntu
any more?

OTOH, I presume the fix to the original bug here is pretty
straightforward. I might even try my hand at this but I don't feel so
sure about the dev guidelines for deb packaging
