Confirmed.

Besides opensuse and fedora, the vnc4server package in debian lenny also
supports the glx extension.
Therefore it is hard to believe why vnc4 is messed up in ubuntu, and according
to google ("vnc glx ubuntu") problems have been reported since 2005 or earlier.

By the way, there are previous bug reports about this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vnc4/+bug/150942
