I tried this but found nothing actually printed out, tried about a dozen boot attempts. I also did a s/# Debug/Debug/g on the whole file and changed the text from white to green... still didn't see any debugging text shown during boot. However I did see a green error message shown during shutdown. I can't see any evidence that this file is controlling my theme - /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu-logo.script - could it be I have some cruft theme file somewhere? Or do I need to rebuild init.d or something?
