I used bootchart with the 45 second delay disabled, so I think it stops
before KDM auto-login.

The full boot to desktop is faster with ureadahead enabled.

However, I am frustrated that some updates to other packages have
resulted in ureadahead taking an extra 10 seconds or so to do its
business. Is this a fragmentation issue?

The result is that discounting KDM to desktop, my boot times are
generally faster without ureadahead or when it is reprofiling.
