I tested with Lucid. Without blacklisting viafb it halts the same way: 2.6.32-19 2.6.32-19 (v2) 2.6.34-rc3-lucid/
I added video=viafb:off to the second last line of booting before the "quiet splash" and it didn't work either. However the latter was not completely installed: leoro...@leorolla-laptop:~/Desktop/lucid$ ls linux-headers-2.6.34-020634rc3-generic_2.6.34-020634rc3_i386.deb linux-image-2.6.34-020634rc3-generic_2.6.34-020634rc3_i386.deb leoro...@leorolla-laptop:~/Desktop/lucid$ sudo dpkg -i * Selecting previously deselected package linux-headers-2.6.34-020634rc3-generic.
