Public bug reported:

Enabling jumbo frames on a Intel 82573V NIC fails in Lucid:

# ifconfig eth2 mtu 9000
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument

This worked in Jaunty (not sure about Karmic - I skipped this on this
computer).

(Jaunty)
# modinfo e1000e | grep ^version
version: 0.3.3.3-k6
# uname -a
Linux cx1 2.6.28-18-server #59-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 02:25:03 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux

(Lucid)
# modinfo e1000e | grep ^version
version: 1.0.2-k2
# uname -a
Linux cx2 2.6.32-19-server #28-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 1 11:46:36 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux

# lspci | grep Ethernet
01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection
0d:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82573V Gigabit Ethernet
Controller (Copper) (rev 03)

Controller
11:00.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] (rev 6c)

Jumbo frames with 82574L and 82573L are working without problems, only
the 82573V gives above error message.
