It works in Lucid Lynx beta 1 !!!
I tried to reproduce this bug today using iReport 3.7.1 and openJDK-6,
everything works as spected: load a jrxml file, preview with data from
postgres and sent to a Laser printer. Printed output was fine.
java -version ouput:

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.8) (6b18~pre4-1ubuntu1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.0-b13, mixed mode)

Status: Incomplete => Invalid
