Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
Playback of commercial audio CDs is poor. Sound is constantly
interrupted or intermittent. Sound starts properly and then plays for a
second only, or sometimes up to 10 or 15 seconds before sound is lost.
It will sometimes then appear to be playing the CD even though no sound
is coming through.
This happens with several original CDs (not copies), all of which play
properly on other players and also on the same computer when using
Windows 7. The DVD/CD player is a new Samsung SH-SA223 model, SATA
connection. It appears to cope fine with data CDs, as I used it to
install all the software on this new computer. Sound card is Creative
Audigy ZS which works fine with streamed audio from the BBC sites, etc.
