This doesn't occur on a Dell Inspiron 6400 with an Intel graphics card.
I'm assuming it is hardware/driver-specific. Unfortunately I can't tell
which driver you are using based on your report. Please reassign it to
the appropriate xserver-xorg-video-* package. You can find that out by
looking at the Xorg log:
$ grep /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so
