Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-11-generic
2.6.20-9 boots, on-board speakers produce audio perfectly (no headphone
jack, however, and no way to test capture). 2.6.20-11 has no audio at
all. Alsamixer shows PCM at 100% and "Front" at 100%. Computer is a
Toshiba Satellite L35-S2171 (the $300 Office Max computer from last
Black Friday). Sound module loads fine, but produces no audio once so
ever.
