Hi, I have this problem too. But interestingly it has been working once. The only related change I did since then was to uninstall the "linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic" package (due to a problem with my avermedia DVD EZmake USB gold) Maybe someone can try installing the alsa backports to see if it fixes the problem (I can' t at the moment because of the prob with my avermedia).
