Does it still crash if you run any of the following?
# vlc -Idummy --fullscreen THEVIDEOFILE.avi
# vlc --no-embedded-video --fullscreen THEVIDEOFILE.avi
# vlc --fullscreen THEVIDEOFILE.avi
Also, what happens if you use the plain X11 video output?
The stack trace is not usable. It just seems to crash inside Qt4-X11.
