For people looking for a solution: you can always install the banshee indicator applet (as per instructions here http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/04/how-to-add-banshee-indicator-applet- in.html). This way, you do not only get a nice looking icon; you also now have banshee with the indicator applets. Maybe it should be the default to have the indicator applet extension installed and enabled, since we want as many as possible applications to migrate to the indicator applets?
