Having the updated 1.8.2 package in Lucid presents a tangible benefit to Ubuntu users who have deployed it. 1.8.1, the current software version included in the 10.04 release, is an early minor version of a dramatic rewrite of the Zabbix software. There are still plenty of bugs and graphical issues. 1.8.1 is a fairly buggy release, especially in terms of GUI responsiveness. 1.8.2 represents a significant stabilization of the package, no new features of note are included, and most of the update has simply to do with making the application acceptably fast for end users. 1.8.1 is embarrassingly slow, and should not be included in Lucid Lynx, or probably any distro.
The upstream Debian package with the updated Zabbix version (at http://packages.qa.debian.org/z/zabbix.html) compiled perfectly with the Ubuntu packaging tools, and is currently installed and running (http://custodiet.kelforce.net/zabbix if you would like to see for yourself) after a trivial "dpkg -i <package>" operation. I believe that this package can be updated without any significant drawback. -- zabbix needs to be updated from version 1.8.1 to 1.8.2, synced from updated Debian packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
