Identical behaviour, also on Windows 7 x64, but mine's Ultimate. Turning off ACPI Aware client and APM power management in the VM BIOS had no effect. Powers off shortly after the logo when trying to install. When trying to run without installing, screen goes black with flashing cursor and disk activity stops. I would keep trying but don't know what to try next...
