After the nm-applet disappeared from the start* I installed Lucid newly and updated (less than an hour ago) and the disappearing vanished.
*When I tried to start nm-applet from the terminal it told me, that nm- applet is already running and it can't open d-bus manager -- nm-applet disappears on connect to new ad-hoc network.
