It just would not let me install anything I have since reloaded I have another bug though. If I install Ubuntu on a hard drive and plug in a USB hard drive or almost any USB device sometimes not always but it eventually will cause my ubuntu to go into a grub rescue and not boot I have looked at the files with Knoppix and most of them are gone including the boot directory. I have it running fine on a USB hard drive but this happens on an internal HD and I have an asus mother board with a 1.6 MHz amd processor. This processor will not boot to USB so I can not try my working USB HD on it to see if it would fail. I am using it on my mini acer laptop without a problem. Please let me know if there is an asus bug in ubuntu. This original bug you are talking about happened on the asus
