Still no good. I've installed the package gears and its dependencies, but GMail offlineimap does not work and claims to require Gears installation still. Upon installing gears as a Firefox plugin, I get:
"Google Gears" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build type (Linux_x86-gcc3).
