Public bug reported:

The upgrade to linux-image-2.6.20-12-generic  results in subsequent
failure to boot the system.

The graphical boot-up screen ( usplash) appears, then hangs
indefinitely.

2.6.20-11-generic  boots fine.

Recovery mode boot also fails with 2.6.20-12-generic.

Hardware:  Celeron 2GHz processor , 512 MB RAM ( 32 shared with onboard
SiS graphics )
