Was this after distribution upgrade 8.04 -> 8.10 or on a normal upgrade?
If after distribution upgrade please attach the files under
/var/log/dist-upgrade/ otherwise attach the file /var/log/apt/term.log
Can you try any of the following workarounds:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get install --reinstall apparmor libapparmor1
