I installed the kernel you suggested from Lucid. It seems that with the
Karmic kernel the issue doesn't go away if I use noapic, because the
system suddenly died after several hours , killing the X server and
messing up the display so I wasn't able to make a bug report after the
kernel oops. I also ran memtest for 24 hours this week without any error
being reported. I did several tests on the hard drive thinking that
could be the culprit (lack of ideas made me do it) among them a read-
only badblocks test, smart tests without any error being reported. Now
I'm using the 2.6.32-21 kernel and set the apparmor=0 and noapic options
and I'm waiting to see what happens. If you have some other suggestions
on what to do I would gladly try them. Thank you!
