Hello, all!

I have a 10.04 64 bit version, upgraded from fresh installed 9.10, a
single OS on a single partition.

There are 6 options in my grub menu (apart from memtest). Depending on
menu items chosen:

1) Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.31-19-generic, Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.31-19-generic 
(recovery mode)
boots just fine, both normal and recovery mode

2) Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-20-generic; Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-21-generic
the screen immediately goes blank with '_' cursor blinking.
Characters can be typed, no other responses.

3) Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-20-generic (recovery console); Ubuntu, with Linux 
2.6.32-21-generic (recovery console)
starts booting, but then hangs after line
[<~4s>] Adding 5927944k swap on /dev/sda5. Priority:-1 extents:1 
accross:5927944k
