My duplicate of this appears linked to the network, not to sound, and in particular when the system goes into hibernation (when I close the lid), although it reconnects to wireless net when I reopen the lid. Only occurs once after each reboot (subsequent hibernations do not reproduce it without a reboot), and appears to have vanished (for now) when I changed to fixed IP instead of DHCP. Once, I saw it reconnect to wireless after unhibernate but not get an IP address (remained at 0.0.0.0), but I've not been able to reproduce that. HTH. Laptop is Acer Aspire 5740G.
