Just for the record, upstream has released 0.2.5 and it includes the
patch. Please, see:

Also, the package is already in Debian unstable:

I think that if you want, we can join and debug this thing so that we
release lucid working on ppc, amd64 and x86 (and this covers a wide
range of platform possibilities---big endian, 64 bit, little endian
etc).
