@J. McDonald: Unfortunately, it's not the easiest thing to apply a patch to the kernel. The build system isn't the easiest to work with. What I can do is build a special 2.6.32-21 kernel with the patch to revert the alps signature. You could install it, and when the -22 kernel comes out with the patch included you will be updated automatically. Does this sound good to you? Bear in mind that we can't offer any support for non-Ubuntu kernels, so if you hit any other issues we'll likely ask you to reproduce it on an official Ubuntu kernel.
