Hi A bit of background: Until 3 weeks ago, I was using Karmic, and I would ssh/sftp map the webroot of a server I have, for quick editing. This connection would remain stable until I unmounted it or shut down the PC. In addition to this, I was able to perform basic permissions work on files/folders on the server. The Nautilus properties applet would show names & groups on the server.
After the switch to Lucid (btw I performed a full dist-upgrade shortly after posting the bug- did not resolve problem). I can still use the "Connect to server" menu to mount the webroot folder, and I can access files, but if I go to the properties applet, the users and groups are displayed as numbers, not names, so I cannot easily change permissions either. After about 10-15 minutes, if i go to open the mounted connection, I will not see any files or folders. I then need to unmount, and re-connect to the server. I have book-marked the connection, and it will connect immediately, but still suffer the same time-out problem. TO REPRODUCE I can repeat this problem with Places>Connect to Server>Service Type SSH...use my credentials and complete the mount - it will invariably drop the connection. I have yet to test if this will occur if I keep active in this connection, ie copying files, editing a page, etc. but I do know it will time-out if I have a document or page open, but not working on it; I get a save error and have to reconnect again. I can connect with ssh at the command line and I have kept it open overnight, with no loss of connection. Please let me know if you need more info. regards Ken -- sftp connection lost after short time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
