Same thing happened to me in the first disk ckeck after installing Lucid Release Candidate (upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04). After turning off the computer (cold booting pressing the key) lucid came back without any problema. I attach boot.log (from the successful boot afterwards) and Xorg logs.
