Yes, it's still an issue. I'm using an up to date Lucid, on my Lenovo T500 (Intel WifiLink 5300). I have two issues: sometimes it takes a looong time to download a webpage (Failed to allocate SKB buffer...), and sometimes when I download something with Transmission, the 2.2MB/s connection slows down to 100KB/s, which is really annoying, and could be cured with reconnecting to the router.
