Yes, this seems to clear up the unusual error message before, but I see
something new in its place.  For instance, the first time I try to
insert a USB stick, I get a GTK-looking popup box saying that it
couldn't mount the filesystem, with a dbus error saying "An operation is
already pending."  However, a few seconds later, I get a nautilus
launched with the filesystem mounted. So it seems like a timing thing.

However, after removing the usb stick and reinserting, I see an EFL-looking 
popup with what appears to be the same error:
Error mounting '549 MB Filesystem': DBus error 
org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending

So I'm wondering if maybe we still have this problem, but it just has a
more useful error message than before.
