Okay, this is embarassing. Apparently there were two non-kernel-related
problems. First, the wireless interface was down. Once I brought that up, I was
able to use the command-line utilities. And second, wicd kept thinking the
wireless interface was ath0 instead of wlan0. Once I fixed these, the wireless
started working. Of course, it's not until I file a big important bug until the
actual problem comes out ): Anyway, I'm sorry for using up your time and thanks
for resolving my problem!
