Hi I would try the workaround, but something else went haywire in the upgrade also and now my HD has something wrong with it's partitions (GRUB starts, but all kernel options return the same partition error), preventing me from starting Ubuntu. No worries though, I'm content with waiting for the few days there are left and then doing a fresh install of 10.04.
