Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Fresh karmic install - but I accidentally followed the jaunty
instructions online to install ubuntu one. Nothing warned me of the
incompatibility or that I supposedly already had ubuntu one. Now I've
uninstalled all ubuntu one package and removed the Jaunty repository -
and then re-installed the karmic ubuntu one, but it's still broken. I
tried to run - look at me typing into this stupid bug box now :/
