Binary package hint: plymouth
When shutting down, Plymouth shows the Ubuntu splash screen but the
colour map of the splash screen is garbled meaning that some or all of
the graphics appear in the wrong colour. The colour map is only restored
during boot, just after file system checks. See attached photograph for
the details.
Note that this may be hardware dependant as this only happens on my
ThinkPad T42 and doesn't happen on my EeePC. However, on the T42 it
happens every single time.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Shut down the machine
2. The Plymouth shutdown splash screen appears
Expected behaviour:
The shutdown splash screen is displayed with the expected colours.
Actual behaviour:
The colours in the splash screen are apparently random and result in a very
messy image.
