I have the same issue. Sync-demon hangs at about 80% CPU, the applet
crashed while trying to disconnect.
Syncdemon.log tells me something about ssl-problems, here the relevant
part at moment of crash:

The SSL handshake errors occured roughly an hour before and repeated all over.
